Election Information

The Local Election and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) Election will be held on Thursday, 2 May 2024. The General Parliamentary Election will be held before 28 January 2025.

You can go to the official UK government website to register online: www.gov.uk/register to-vote.

You can also register over the phone with the Elections Team at Southend-on-Sea City Council by calling 01702 215010. If you would like to book an appointment to register in person at the Civic Centre, please call 01702 215010

What information will I need?
You will need your National Insurance Number, Date of Birth, Full Name, and Address.

Other Important information
If you do not have a National Insurance Number, the Elections Team can register you by seeing other documents to prove your identity such as your passport, driving license, or biometric residence permit. It is a personal choice if you choose to vote but being on the Electoral Register have other benefits such as it being great for your credit score.

Photo ID
To vote in person during an election, you will need to bring photo ID, such as a driving license, passport, or older person's bus pass, with you. If you do not have any photo ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate.

If you want to vote by post or nominate someone to vote on your behalf (as a proxy), you will need to provide your National Insurance number as part of the application. If you don't have a National Insurance number, you will need to provide documentary evidence or ask someone to attest your application.
